Siouxsie Gomez Barboza
Siouxsie Gomez-Barboza is a dedicated martial artist with a journey that embodies strength, skill, and a commitment to empowering women and children through the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Siouxsie’s journey began in Krav Maga and MMA, as she aspired to be a professional fighter. However, once she started training at Checkmat HQ, she realized her true love and passion was for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. She has exclusively honed her expertise in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under the Checkmat team since she was a blue belt, becoming an active competitor and respected kids instructor. Her journey has been guided by none other than one of Checkmat’s original founders, Leo Viera, who also awarded Siouxsie her black belt.
Siouxsie’s passion lies in teaching and mentoring other women, sharing the transformative power of Jiu Jitsu for both self-defense and competitive purposes She also finds immense joy in instructing young practitioners, bringing her years of experience to kids’ classes. As a mother of two children, her primary objective is to create a safe and enjoyable environment for children to learn Jiu Jitsu, instilling in them the values of discipline, confidence, and respect while fostering a love for the martial arts. Siouxsie Gomez is a testament to the transformative power of martial arts, inspiring women and children alike to reach their full potential both on and off the mat.
